I got to see fireflies for the first time yesterday! And I did not really have to go anywhere - well, I had to leave the apartment, go to the other side of the valley and take a walk along the river, but nothing more. The fireflies were dancing in an alley of lime trees, one of my favourite places around here. It was wonderful! I did not expect them to be quite so... magical, for lack of a better word. :)
Well, back to business. *g* Here's the edited version of "A Fighting Chance". This story was inspired by a certain scene in the movies. I don’t think you will have any problems finding out which one. ;-) Feedback is, as always, very welcome! :)

Title: A Fighting Chance
Author: Silivren Tinu
Beta: the wonderful Imbecamiel (((hugs)))
Genre: Friendship, Humour. Gen.
Rating: K+
Summary: Estel learns some lessons in archery, unaware that the skills he is now acquiring will one day help to decide the fate of Middle-earth. Both pre-LotR and LotR, movieverse. Characters: Little Estel/Aragorn, Legolas. Written for Prompt #134 “Chance” in the Owners of Aragorn Angst yahoo group.
Disclaimer: I don’t own them – never have, never will. But I really enjoy playing with them whenever I get the chance. ;-)
~ A Fighting Chance ~
“Hold it steady,“ Legolas ordered calmly. “Now draw the string back to your shoulder and hold it there.”
Estel did his best to comply, trying to keep the bow steady and the arrow trained on the target in spite of the fact that his muscles were beginning to tremble under the strain. He felt the elf’s hands on his shoulders, slightly correcting his posture. Then his friend moved back to his side and nodded. “Let it go!”
With a sigh of relief, Estel released both arrow and string. The bow sang, and the arrow hummed through the air in a graceful arc… missing the target by inches.

Post a single sentence from each WIP that you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!
This should be lots of fun and will hopefully motivate me to start working on said WIPs again! *rubs hands*
Here are my sentences:
1. Estel shut the book he had been reading in with a bang, startling Legolas and almost causing him to tip the inkpot over and ruin the letter he had been writing on.
2. He patted his axe fondly, and there was a fire in his eyes that promised certain death to each foul creature of Mordor or Isengard that dared to show its face.
3. Legolas was rudely awoken from sweet elven dreams by a hand grabbing his shoulder and beginning to shake it insistantly.
4. He felt like strangling Elrohir for not telling him more.
5. Seeing the silver-haired healer standing there instead of Legolas made Aragorn feel even more worried than he already was – in all the years since he had befriended the elven prince, being greeted by Nestadren instead of his friend had never been a good sign at all.
6. “Things like that don’t happen to dwarves!“ an outraged-sounding voice barked from somewhere inside the darkness.
7. If he had been forced to live in the neighbourhood of Dol Guldur he would have preferred stealth, too.
8. The man’s features were stern and grim, and there was a nearly haunted expression in his eyes as he stared ahead into a world only he could see.
9. Rain began to pour down from the low-hanging clouds, dripping from the leaves and branches of the trees and turning roads and pathways into muddy morass, soaking anyone who was unfortunate enough to be on the way at this late time of the day.
10. “If you want him,” Legolas said in a very quiet voice, “you will have to go through me first.”

Title: Of Cliffs and Rangers

Beta: the wonderful Imbecamiel (((hugs)))
Genre: Humor, weirdness, angst. Gen.
Rating: K
Summary: A certain elf and a certain ranger are having a streak of bad luck – again. Characters: a certain elf, a certain ranger, and Gimli. Post-RotK. Written for Prompt #140 “Cliff” in the Owners of Aragorn Angst yahoo group.
Disclaimer: I’m not sure if anything in this story has much to do with Tolkien’s world anymore, but I’m still quite sure I don’t own them. ;P
~ Of Cliffs and Rangers ~
“What is it about you and cliffs?“ a disembodied voice wanted to know from somewhere inside the pitch-black darkness.
“I do not have any problem with cliffs and cliffs do not have any problem with me,” a second, just as disembodied and rather tense-sounding voice answered from somewhere nearby.
“Don’t they? I’m not so sure the cliffs would agree.”

1.Which is your favourite fic?
I didn't expect I'd find this question difficult to answer, but I do. There was a time when I disliked almost all of my stories, but now that I'm older and wiser *snickers* I tend to find something I like in each story. LOL.
I still very much like the German version of A Night in Lothlórien, but I'm still not sure if the English translation is quite as good. Like a Bird in the Sky is very close to my heart, too.
I also like all 'Dawn of Friendship' fics, especially A Danger in the Night and A Morning in Imladris. Of the long stories, I would have to name Wounds and Hunted. Sorry. *g*
2. Which is your best-received fic?
Call of the Heart. The strong response I got for this fic will never cease to amaze me, especially since it was only the second story I've written (at least in English).
3. Which is your worst-received fic?
At the moment, Of Orcs, Rangers, and Peach Pie and all new stories posted in my Facets of Friendship collection. I had several older stories which weren't well-received when I first posted them, but all of them got a nice number of reviews over the years.
4. Which is your angsty-est fic?
Hm... that would still be Wounds, I think.
5. Which is your funniest fic?
Probably A Danger in the Night. A River, Orcs, and a Spider. Or perhaps "Of Cliffs and Rangers", but that hasn't been officially posted yet.
6. Smuttiest?
Nothing to offer here, sorry. ;-)
7. Fluffiest?
There tends to be a certain (hopefully well-balanced) amount of fluff in all my stories. Perhaps A Headache or Like a Bird in the Sky, I'm not sure.
8. Have you ever made someone cry with your fic?
Judging from what my readers told me, yes, I did. Wounds seems to have made many readers cry. It's just wonderful when one's stories touch readers that deeply.
9. Which fanfic frustrates you the most?
The sequel to Call of the Heart.
The long story I've been working on and been close to giving up on for years now. :P
10. Which fic was the most fun to write?
Call of the Heart. It was fun all around - the writing, the 1st place in the Teitho contest, the response of the readers.
A Danger in the Night, because it made me laugh while I was writing it. :D
11. Which of the OCs you created is your favorite?
Tuilinn and Nestadren. Sorry - I really can't decide if I like the cantankerous stallion more than the cantankerous healer or the other way around. *g*
12. Are you better at oneshot or multipart?
I can't really say what I'm better at. Oneshots are easier for me to write, but I hope they are neither better nor worse than my multipart-stories.
13. Which character portrayal do you think is your best?
Aragorn-Legolas friendship. No, that's not really a character, but it's what I love most and likely do best. ;-) Judging from the reactions of my readers, my Thranduil also seems to be quite acceptable. *g*
14. What character is the most difficult to portray?
Hobbits.

“A brother is not always a friend,
but a friend is always a brother.”
(Unknown)
Two hours later, Legolas was still sitting on the ground watching over an unconscious Estel, who was lying in front of him. He had moved away from Estel’s side to a spot next to his friend’s feet the moment Elrond and his sons had arrived, to give them room to work, but had not changed his position again since. The young man was covered by several blankets now and finally resting peacefully. Legolas himself had a blanket around his shoulders, too, though he could not remember who had put it there or when, but he was feeling anything but peaceful.
His hands were still shaking, when he did not hold them folded in his lap or pressed against his thighs, and he felt as if something deep inside of him, something important, had been torn out violently and then stuffed back in again carelessly. There was a lingering, distant pain seeming to emanate from his soul rather than from his body, which had abated somewhat by now, but refused to leave completely.

A/N: Some of you probably remember hearing me complain about a very difficult story I was working on. Well, I’ve finally finished it (after countless re-writings, including several pov-changes and various other nuisances :P). More than everything, this is a story about friendship and family. If you like Aragorn/Estel-Legolas and Legolas-Elladan/Elrohir friendship and are in the mood for a large dose of angst followed by an equally large dose of h/c and warm fuzzies, you might want to give this story a try. ;-) You can also read it on Fanfiction.net or in the Owners of Aragorn Angst yahoo group.
Worth the Pain could be seen as some kind of sequel to "A Morning in Imladris", but you don’t need to know that story to understand this one. The worst that could happen is that you’re missing some discrete references. ;-)
I hope you’ll enjoy, and I’d love to hear how you liked it! :) Oh, and I should probably mention that Estel is about sixteen years old in this story.
Dedication: This story is dedicated to Jedi Sapphire. There are countless things I love about her stories, one of which is the wonderful way she’s writing Legolas – Elladan/Elrohir friendship. This story is the result of the inspiration I gained from hers. :)

Summary: When an accident strikes and leaves someone close to him seriously injured, Legolas has to face some of his worst fears. Characters: Legolas, Estel, Elladan, Elrohir.

“True friends, like ivy and the wall,
stand together and both together fall.”
(Unknown)
“It is only a simple arrow,” Legolas stated, his voice quivering slightly. “No barbs, no poison, and it did not hit the bone. It should be easy to remove.”
“That is… good to know,” Estel muttered through clenched teeth, wondering if tearing his leg off could make the pain any worse. He had seen both his brothers and Legolas bear far worse wounds in a dignified, almost stoical way and he wished he had some idea how they had done it. All he wanted to do right now was scream. The only thing that had kept him from doing so was Legolas’ presence, and knowing that his screams would be as painful for the elf as his wound was for him, if not more so.

This is an old story I found on my computer when I was looking for a story to post. It is Aragorn-Legolas friendship, pure and simple, and even canon-friendly since it is post-RotK. :) There is something about this story I really like, though it is only a short ficlet.
Title: "For All Eternity"

I completely forgot to mention that the edited and final version of The Stone is now posted on Fanfiction.net. :)
Title: "The Stone"
Word Count: 3233
Summary: King Elessar remembers a special day during his childhood, when he received a priceless gift. Characters: Aragorn/Estel, Legolas, Arwen.
Btw, has anyone ever seen any LotR-icons with young Estel, the twins, Eldarion, or Halbarad on them? I guess they would have to be created from artwork. Almost all the icons I've seen so far are movie icons, and of course the people who only appeared in the books don't show up on them.
